  2. Just out of cuiriosity, how long has this guy been around and how much success has he had?

I want to know when they will induct Keith Urban. Or is he ineligible cos he's an Aussie??

He's done the hard yards and is a huge success.

  5. Hope you critics aren't Garth Brooks fans: he was invited to join when his 2nd album, No Fences, was released.

So your reasoning/argument wouldn't hold much water.

  6. now THIS is a real choice- A lot better of a choice than Dierks Bentley- Congrats Josh, you deserve the accolade!

  7. I wouldn't think it would have anything to do with Keith being an Aussie...Terri Clark is Canadian and she is a member of the GOO.
I wonder how they pick anyway??

    Great news for Josh!:)

  8. I don't think Keith has ever even played the Grand Ole Opry.

They pick people who show dedication to the Opry, who agree to show up and play their 8 times a year, who sell tickets, who talk about the Opry in interviews, etc. etc. etc. And like everything else on Music Row, there are some politics.

I'm excited for Josh, because he's a great guy, and continues to carry the banner for traditional country music. To answer Lynette's question, he's about to put out his 3rd album, first 2 went platinum, and he's nominated for CMA Male Vocalist. You probably know his debut hit "Long Black Train."

However, after 120+ guest performances there, I would really like to see them offer Opry membership to Craig Morgan. Who fits all the above points, but isn't on a major record label. He's certainly earned it.

  9. Keith has played the Opry a few times, including the Katrina benefit a few years ago, but he certainly doesn't deserve an invitation to join. The opry don't just induct people who are big stars, hence why Tim, Kenny, Toby and Rascal Flatts aren't in there among many others.

Josh Turner, however, has been there many times. Oh and there is the simple fact that he's COUNTRY.

Craig Morgan deserves the nod too for sure.

  10. This is GREAT! He's really going to be a great addition to the Opry Family. Unfortunately I MISSED IT! Got home just after it happened. Do you know anywhere on the internet it's playing? I'd love to see his reaction (I heard he was very moved and excited)

  11. Hi Sharon,

At the bottom of the page, there is a video.

  12. Even though the whole link doesn't seem to be there, a copy and paste did work!

I used to be able to edit these things. For some reason, my blogger login wont work.

  13. That is good news. GAC re-airs the Opry a couple of times, including two today, one at noon and another at 7pm, both Eastern time.

As an aside, do we have a poster who has a split personality with three different opinions on this or is it two...hard to determine? :p

  14. I would LOVE for Craig Morgan to be a part of the Grand Ole Opry. He doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves.

Josh was really moved when Roy Clark read that letter. It was a sweet moment.

  15. Is it me or does Jason Michael Caroll's new song 'Living Our Love Song' not sound identical to that song Craig Morgan had out a few years ago called 'Look At Us'.

    Kind of on topic, lol.

  16. What great news -- well deserved. You are so right about Craig Morgan being another great choice.

So glad/surprised when Josh rec'd the CMA Male Vocalist nom.

Is Joe Nichols a member yet? Love that boy. Saw Joe/Josh on separate occasions with B&D past few years and fell in love with both of them.

  17. As if Dierks wasn't enough of a shock?? :o

  18. Joe is not in there. Gerry House also even asked Pete Fisher (Opry vice president) why Joe wasn't in there whilst Joe was on the air with him! Not sure if it helped his chances...

Joe's a great singer, but he is not as frequent on the Opry as Craig Morgan who definitely deserves the nod.

Just me on the two songs sounding the same then!
