GRS: The End

It was 3am when I went to bed this morning. I opened up another blog entry about quarter 'til 2, and wrote a ton of stuff because I wanted to share my Garth High with all of you, as a little "thank you" for taking the time to come visit my personal blog, which somedays is nothing more than a story about my daughter or whining about my recent move. I love, love, love my readers, because without you being here, I'd just be talking to myself.

I woke up this morning determined to write up my "Garth Story" that I video taped for Garth before I checked out of the hotel and went back to my family. Since I gave him a message from y'all, I wanted to be sure to tell you what I told him.

While I'm drinking my morning coffee I popped around the 'net. And low and behold, the post I constructed in the early hours of the morning so you'd have something to read when you first woke up had been copied and pasted on a message board, in its' entirety.

Excuse me -- not in it's entirety. Everything BUT the last line, which asked people again not to copy and past my writings at other places.

I've been fortunate enough to have some pretty cool writing gigs over the years, at various websites and a (now defunct) country music magazine. If I want to post on any given message board, I'm perfectly capable of doing so. This is my writing home now.

At some point I'm sure I'll come back and tell you more about the stuff I haven't gotten to yet, because I've got mountains of notes. In the meantime, I've taken down all the updates I've posted throughout the weekend, I think all the hardcore fans were here all weekend anyway. But for anyone who hasn't been here this weekend and missed all the good scoop, here's the rundown that you're free to swipe and post around the internet:

Had a great weekend at GRS, we spent about 9 hours with Garth all totaled on Saturday, including an hour and a half prior to the public press conference, and about 5 hours at a party out at Blue Rose estates. The new music is AWESOME - I've heard all four songs and "Midnight Sun" is definitely my favorite but the single is totally stuck in my head. He looks great, and there are LOTS of exciting things in the pipeline that you haven't begun to hear about yet. Food was fabulous, but I didn't once see Garth touch any of it.

Oh, and he gives AMAZING hugs.

Is it just me or is the blog about not being able to sleep missing. I thought I read about that earlier this morning.

I'm so sorry people did this, J. You know it pisses me off too. :(

That explains the 404 Errors when I clicked on the links, for a moment I thought the blog was completely down.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the fact that I did post a small quote myself, although that was pre seeing that you didn't want that done(I am new to this blog)... Anyway, I'm really sorry that we offended you, and your updates were very very much appreciated. Thank you for everything.

Thank you again! I hope you will be this good to us in the future! We really appreciate it! It's my great hope that the mistakes of a few don't taint the many that view this blog.

Thanks!

Rats! Sucks to be me to choose to do housework this morning rather than checking the blog. I missed the whole update even though I'd been faithfully clicking back here all the way through to 1 am last night.

ALWAYS the drama... every... single... time :(

Yes, Joyce, I will chime in with everyone else and say Thank You for sharing... it has been very much appreciated and enjoyed! :)

I just don't understand why every big Garth event has to be followed by this kind of garbage... I wish we could just all be happy about what Garth is giving and TRY to be one big happy Garth family. It disgusts me that a bunch of people who have supposedly been SO EFFECTED by this great man and his inspiring messages of love always seem to find a way to act like a bunch of brats towards each other.

Where is the love?

wow...sorry this happened J :(

but thanks so very much for everything.

I'm sorry I did not read your last blog more carefully. I, too, am sorry people think it is okay to do this to you. Thanks again for all your thoughts and impressions of this weekend. I really enjoy your blogs, even the ones about your family. It always amazes me how grown up your daughter is now.

Joyce,

Someone told me to come here after I read what was copied from your blog onto another site about my new Garth song Midnight Sun that I cowrote with Garth and Jerrod.

I'm sorry you chose to erase that blog cause it was very well written, and I enjoyed it very much. That was very kind. It is a fun song and one that I love very much, and I am extremely honored to be a part of this Ultimate Hits package.

I know you were at my #1 party for Good Ride Cowboy sitting at the table when we were taking questions from radio, but I did not know which one you were or I would have said hi to you.

Thanks for your kind words and here is hoping that Midnight Sun does become the hit that you believe it will be. More than a memory was cowritten by our buddy Lee, and he too is a huge Garth fan that just had his dreams come true like we have. I believe it is an amazing song, well written, and will do very well. So I wish him the best, and keep an eye out for Jerrod you will be hearing much more from him very soon!!!

I agree Leave a Light on is a masterpiece and a wonderful song that can rank up there with all the timeless songs Garth has done throughout the years. Thank you to you and XM for playing both my songs Good Ride Cowboy and That Girl is a Cowboy it meant the world to us to have two Garth singles last year.

Don't Just Dream...
Believe!!!

How wonderful of you Richie Brown to post here for Joyce!!
This is very exciting also for us fans!!
I met both you and Jarrod in Times Square. My friends and I were up front with Joan Hammer and her family while the taping of GRC was going on. The loud whistle in the video is me!!!

Thanks for the music!!

I'm Guilty and I'm sorry. I was one of these people who copied and paste your item.

For the life of me, I cannot remember seeing the line, "Don't copy and Paste" at the end, that may be hard to believe, but its true.

Still its no excuse. Other Garth fans shouldn't have to suffer, because of my actions, I guess I was just too excited hearing all of this Garth news.

If you choose to post anymore, I can promise you, I will not copy and paste anything.

Im 100% guilty and Im sorry.

Take Care, from a Garth Fan.

Well due to working all day, I totally missed what you posted in the wee hours of the morning as I didn't have time to check the blog this morning. I'm glad you got a GB hug- I hear they're awesome and I would love to live vicariously through you on that one.

I read your blog daily, and I hope we see some GB tidbits in the future. I'm looking forward to hearin the new music- if you love it I know it ROCKS!

I'll chime in also about being sorry that you had to remove your blog entries in order to keep them from being copied and pasted elswhere. I hope the actions of a few don't sour you against sharing what you can with us.

I have been pretty much out of commission all weekend and had only been able to check in a few times after the press conference was over, so I missed the last few entries of your activities.

Hope you enjoyed GRS...sounded like you had when I last checked in.

Joyce I so enjoyed your reports of this last weekend. I'm sorry I didn't repy sooner but I couldn't remember my password. You write so well it is just like we are all there. You lucky duck! Did you see any of the Stillwater members this weekend?

joyce, i'm really sorry that happened. i know when you/we write, our words and thoughts are meant to be shared or else we wouldn't put them out there, but at the same time, we guard them carefully, like a part of us. hopefully it was just a miscommunication or misunderstanding. i've been out of sorts since near the end of the press conference. what i thought were garthjitters turned out to be the beginning of nausea and a migraine. i ended up with a shot for pain, and pills for pain and nausea. so i haven't got to enjoy the after effects of the press conference or share my thoughts or feelings. i'm just beginning sunday night 8:30 p.m. to feel human again. thanks for sharing all you and for sharing what you can when you can. keep the faith!

Joyce, I read your blogs often but have never commented... just wanted, like so many others, to thank you for sharing what you could and offer regrets for the way some "fans" disrespected your wishes... I'm sure the weekend was fabulous and I'm glad you got to be a part of it.. taking us there with you in whatever capacity you could is more than generous and very much appreciated...
Richie, nice to hear your comments as well.. Joann nearly deafened us that night in Times Square, but every time I hear that whistle I know it was worth it! It was great meeting you then and wish you all the best with this new ride!

Thank you Richie for coming by! "Midnight Sun" is going to be such a treat for the long time Garth fans, because it's REALLY, imho, captured the vintage honky tonk Garth. Congratulations on being part of this great project!

I haven't seen Jerrod since the ACM's, please pass on my congrats to him as well!

Off topic, but I can't think of anything I hate more than Kenny Chesney's press releases. He needs a new publicist really bad.

Producer J. said...

LMAO - TOTALLY off topic! But oh so true.

I also wanted to say thank you for the nice notes - and the apologies - that were posted above.

Back when I was at PG it was POLICY that entire articles published on the internet could not be posted, and if they were it was edited down to a snippet with a link to the original source. We did that to protect the writer's work - for one thing, the site they write for (whether it's USA Today or their own personal home page) should get the page hits, but more importantly, when someone copies and pastes someone else's words, they then have the ability to change anything and re-publish it. At that point it could look like I said "Garth's world tour launches tomorrow in Spud's backyard" and then lo and behold, that rumor gets spread around the internet.

I think we all know that the World Tour is going to launch from my new backyard - which has a privacy fence. ;-)

And yummy drinks!!!

Well... maybe. If I ever find the box I packed my blender in!

If you could possibly consider reposting your last entry about the GRS, I would be very appreciative. I completely understand if you want to leave the entry unposted.

I've really enjoyed sharing the experience with you as have many!

Could you talk about whether Trisha or more duets came up in the course of the event? Also, you had mentioned a Kodak moment between Garth and Trisha? Did I read that correctly?

Thanks again!

Joyce:

I must be one of the few people in the world who is computer free at home, and so I headed here first thing Monday morning after fetching a tea to get all the scope (before going to PG or anywhere else). Needless to say, I was somewhat disappointed to find out all the delicious updates I was hoping to read are no longer here. The internet is way to wild west for me; completely lawless.

I suppose it may be time to break down and finally get that computer at home.

I don't know what to say about this new project of Garth's. The videos might be "very cool" to see, but seeing as I am probably one of the few again who wasn't all that thrilled with any of the Lost Sessions material, I hope these new songs are much better.

Anyway, thanks for all you do. It sounds like a great time was had, and having experienced a couple myself, those Garth hugs are definately awesome for sure.
