Observations of a 10 Year Old

While driving Delaynie to school this morning, we listened to Gerry House do a long segment about Garth, taking calls, playing the single, etc. When they went to commercial, I flipped to WSM, looking for traffic info, and heard their morning guy talking about Garth, and then they played the single.

Delaynie pipes up from the back seat, "Apparently the whole world is obsessed with Garth Brooks this morning."

I just love it when all these other singers plod along and the Garth just steps out and says "watch how it's done. :)

Ugh! My radio station just said they would play the new Garth song tomorrow a little after 7 am.

I wish they would have told me that 6 hours ago. I wouldn't have tortured myself listening all morning.

Idiots! I want me some Garth NOW!

I listened to the link that someone had posted at PG and I have to say the jury is still out. LOL Part of the problem was that it kept starting and stopping. I do agree with someone that said it sound like it could have been a Chris Gaines song.

Hopefully I'll hear it on XM when I'm running errands today.

I think Delaynie is a VERY observant and smart young lady! LOL

If you want to hear the single.. my local station has live stream..they are playing it every hour at the top of the hour.

Over on PG, somebody ripped Sandi for posting a full column. Although he was a little rude, he had a point. Sandi acts like Internet cop everyday, yet can't deal with getting called out on her own error. Very interesting thread.

I saw Sandi's original post, and she did NOT post the full column. What she originally posted was more than what it was edited down to, but it was in no way Hazel's full column. Thanks for giving me a chance to point that fact out because someone who didn't see the original post might be lead to think otherwise.

I think anyone who knows Sandi knows how protective she is of artists' rights, whether they're singers, songwriters, or little ole writers like me.

Regardless of the personal bashing and file sharing and whatever else is allowed there - or at ANY other site on the internet - it is NOT going to be allowed to spill over to this blog. There are plenty of forums over there and a full staff of moderators to handle the choices they make for their site.

I cannot believe "anonymous" has the nerve to come here and post this, then doesn't post their name. Shameful.

Not to mention, if they're going to accuse someone, at least get their facts straight.

I love the song because its different than anything he's put out before, and he sings the h*ll out of it. Welcome back to the airwaves, Garth!

As I was listening to my local station this morning, they had all these announcements but no mention of Garth...how dare they!! I emailed them right away and not 5 minutes later they mentioned it and played it about half an hour later. Unfortunately I only caught half of it.:(
It's almost the top of the hour, I'll have to check out Moni's station, thanks!!

My crappy local played Garth every 45 minutes...just not the new one. I called them at 3:00 pm only to be told they 'didn't have it'.

I love the cello with Garth's voice; I love the fact its SO Garth, and yet not quite Garth at all.

Thanks for the scoop on the barn!

NO ONE can make the excuse they didn't have it. It was digitally delivered to EVERY radio station in America at 12:01am Eastern so that EVERYONE would have it at the same time. And we were given a week's notice that it would be coming in that way, so if people wanted to make arrangments to get it on the air right away, they had plenty of notice.

Now granted... a DJ might say they don't have it... but what that translates into is that their program director didn't give it to them. Shame on them.

This single made some history today, I do believe, by lining up all these stations to play it every hour, or every 98 minutes, or whatever. At one point today I was told by someone at Big Machine that the song had played once a minute since midnight.

That, my friends, is what a Big Machine can do for you.
