Front Page News

Things still buzzing in Music City... Rascal Flatts NOT getting a CMA Nomination for Entertainer of the Year was front page news in today's Tennessean.

boo hoo flatts...

There a more glaring omission to me, but I am biased. I don't care if she doesn't tour that much anymore, the fact that the woman who tore the roof of the Ryman last night is NOT in the CMA female vocalist category or best album makes me loose any faith in the validity of these political statues. (I know, it didn't take much).

- lish, who is riding high on 3 hours of sleep and 8 plane rides in 4 days. Woot!

I agree with lish 110%. Mrs Brooks should be on the female vocalists list. Why on earch isn't MTAM on the lists for singles? For goodness sake it DEBUTED in the top spot. Another crap awards show engineered by the record labels to spotlight their 'flavours' of the day. I'll not be watching.

I agree about "More Than A Memory". One of the biggest songs of the year and of Garth's career. Great stats and continued airplay. Terrible omission.

I also expected Taylor Swift to be nominated in more categories considering the year she has had.

My engineer went to the show at the Ryman last night. I could only afford one ticket, LOL, so I sent him. He loves Trisha. I saw her there about 5 years ago, she was great.

I thought I had a friend there too... but apparently not. Because a friend would have LET ME KNOW that she was in town... in MY TOWN... and would have come to see my BEAUTIFUL NEW STUDIOS that she's heard (read) me raving about. Especially if that friend was an XM SUBSCRIBER. She could have been the first to have seen it in it's newly functional state.

But no. Aparently, I didn't have a friend there after all.

Is these awards shows political in your opinion?

I find most awards to be that way.

oh GOODNESS yes. It's political and it's problematic. Any type of voting is -- and that includes fan voting. (Anyone remember the Music City News Awards?)

Someone was teasing me the other day about how corrupt Illinois politics are because of the big political machine there. (Dead people vote there.) I was like -- I know all about corruption, I work in the music industry!

(And that's not by any means unique to Nashville... it's just what I know so I recognize it.)

OUCH! You did have a friend in town who flew in that morning, had to catch up with her best friend in the afternoon, then go to the Ryman, avoided seeing Mrs. Brooks :), then fly back to Boston at 6am the next day. :) You're friend who is an XM subscriber thought of you much that day and wishes you would have actually gone to the show! ;) BUT, your friend may actually be taking a job in the cornfields soon, so she will be able to come visit you and your salsa shots more periodically. :)

And agreed about MTAM, I also think it was in the list of his career best... just an incredible song. Alas...
