Who WASN'T Nominated...

The bigger news out of Nashville this morning really didn't seem to be about who got nominated. It's who DIDN'T.

Tim McGraw and Toby Keith nowhere to be found, despite them both actively touring and having hit records. Alison Krauss gets a Female Vocalist nod, but Reba McEntire doesn't? What has Alison done for COUNTRY music?

The buzz up and down Music Row this morning is Rascal Flatts NOT getting an Entertainer of the Year nomination -- despite actively campaigning for one.

And I really am not crazy about this "New Artist of the Year" category name. Especially when you see artists like Jason Aldean and Rodney Atkins in there. The Horizon Award not only sounds more prestigious, it makes more sense. But then again - no one asked me.

Can't wait to read everyone else's thoughts.

Actually I'm glad the flat rascals aren't nominated, as I don't think they can sing. This is based on seeing them at a local venue before they hit it big.

I'm hoping Paisley will get EOT, but it'll probably be Cheeseball.

I used to like Rascal Flatts until they started sounding like a pop band. These days, I can't even stand to hear them on the radio, I immediately change it when they come on.. they took a turn for the worse (in my opinion) with "Life is a Highway".

I love Alison Krauss, and while she's probably a long shot - I hope she wins.

I also hope that Brad Paisley wins for Entertainer. I've really been over Kenny Chesney the last year or so (no offense XM)..he too, doesn't sound country to me anymore these days. Just sounds like Jimmy Buffett. It makes me laugh to listen to the XM 18 station - it's like a completely different person singing when you hear his old songs from back in the day - to the new "island" stuff he sings now. I'm over him.

Just my two cents :) I'll now step down from my soapbox!

Tim McGraw toured? AK deserves a nod; her album with RP got all kinds of Americana noms. And isn't Americana part of country? Thank goodness RF wasn't nominated...at least someone got that right. :)

I guess Taylor and Carrie were nominated because of the strength of their sales and airplay, and since Trisha had neither, she's not there. Wish it was based on talent.

Now, you know I'm a huge Reba fan, so sorry if this sounds a little biased. But, her album was huge, the singles were #2 and top 15 I think. She had a very successful tour with Kelly Clarkson. I think almost if not every date was sold out. I cannot believe she didn't get a female nom or album. "Gunpowder and Lead" was nominated for song? I don't even remember hearing that on the radio. Jason Aldean has been in the biz since at least 2005, he's not new. The cd Allison Krauss made with Robert Plant isn't all that country in my opinion. I don't know why she keeps getting nominated. Martina hasn't really done much either.
I am suprised Rascal Flatts didn't get nominated for ent (i don't like them, but still). The Sugarland nom suprised me. Is it because they come out in giant balls into the audience?

All hail Kenny, Taylor, and Carrie.

ps I'm not bitter, just disappointed.

Me too are happy Rascal Flatts didn't get nominated.
Reba should have been. I think More Than a Memory should have been nominated for song of the year. I hope Brad wins a lot. And cool that Trace Adkins got a couple of nominations. And I will cheer fro Taylor Swift :)

So thrilled that Rascal Flatts didn't get nominated. I"m pulling for KU to win EOY and Male Vocalist.

Also thought Jason and Rodney getting New Artist Nods was rather strange too. Pulling for James Otto to win the award.

Female Miranda Lambert. I'm so over Carrie Underwood

The Eagles???????????? Country music??????? Puhleese

So ready for Turtleman to not win anything LOL

turtleman haha..that's a great.

More than a memory should've gotten a nom too. I totally forgot about that (sorry garth). It made history.

Speaking of the cowboy, I just saw karen rochelle at a showcase thing tonight and garth recorded a message for her. I thought that was nice :)

Tim has been shutout of the CMA's for a couple years now. Even when he had the highest selling tour in country music...He has obviously done something to piss people off in Nashville...using his own band for records? his political stance? who knows...but I don't think his lack of nomination is hurting his bankbook any...his concerts are still a sellout & albums go to #1.

It makes me chuckle RF didn't get a nomination even after campaigning. I think that is what the CMA's & other award shows is about lately...whose butt you kiss the most/best.
