Concert Update

From today's Country Aircheck email blast:

Brooks & Done: Kansas City's new Sprint Center, opening in October with Elton John, will be the site of Garth Brooks' "One Artist, One City, One Time" show set for Nov. 14 at 7:30pm. "Several months ago we'd announced that we would perform a thank-you concert for our friends at Wal-Mart," Brooks said in a statement released to Country Aircheck. "They'd suggested either Fayetteville or Kansas City. AEG was kind enough to help us out with this concert and offered the opening of the new Sprint Center. We were thrilled since this allowed us the opportunity to make this an even bigger party by opening up the concert to the public." Ticket information will be released Oct. 3.

Very interesting. Thank you for the info.

Also, going back to an earlier blog where you said you felt bad for Kristian of Sugarland because his voice isn't on the new single: Have you felt the same way about many of the Brooks and Dunn singles?

I don't know of a Brooks & Dunn single where Kix doesn't sing AT ALL. Is there one? Usually he's on the harmony vocalss. And I think because B&D have such a "sound" to their music that you know he's there.

I have noted that on the album cuts where Kix does sing lead that I understand why he doesn't do it more often, LOL. Love him. But he's no Ronnie Dunn.

Interesting point, thanks for bringing it up! When I listen to MG, no matter which one is singing lead, I always hear the other. Maybe it's because Sugarland is a guy / girl combo, that hearing Jennifer without Kristian makes it sound like a female solo record.

I get the feeling also the focus, in the case of Brooks & Dunn, is on both of them as far as marketing, interviews, etc, but not so with Sugarland. If you knew nothing about Sugarland you'd think Kristian was just a band member, since he's rarely in any of the band promos and stuff. It just seems to be more about her, than them, I guess.

Without a doubt, tickets are going to be really hard to get. Between the radio winners and the Wal*Mart "friends", not to mention those with friends in high places, I wonder how many of those tickets are going to be made available to the general public.

What I haven't seen anywhere is noon in what time zone is the Ticketmaster announcement coming?

Just found it...noon central, which means 1pm my time. I'll be in a meeting then, so as soon as I get back to my desk, I'll be checking here and at ticketmaster.com.

Great news. Thanks for all the info.

My favourite B&D song is 'South of Santa Fe' which Kix sings. Like J says, he's no Ronnie Dunn but its not like he stands there and does very little. He usually sings a handful of album cuts but most of the singles end up being songs Ronnie sings. MG do tend to share vocal duties a bit more, but thats because neither of them really stand out from the other vocal wise, same with Van Zant. Big & Rich tend to sing together, though John did seem to sing most of 'Lost In This Moment'. The Wreckers I can't tell apart!

I think Jennifer Nettles needs to go solo. That guy with the weird hats HAS got to go!

Btw, you most certainly DON'T suck.

You have a job that most would love to have. You work really hard and keep us well informed. I don't know why people can't enjoy this type of information which isn't readily available elsewhere and have to attack you out of jealously.

Don't let them win! Your a cyber angel! lol

Sorry to hear you are getting hate mail, J. :( Don't let them get you down. And if you'd put the "haters" on one side of the scales and the "lovers" (don't take this literally) on the other side... you know which side would tip the scales, right?!

Chin up and thanks for your great posts!
