Oh My. Discussion Topics.

Feel free to chime in by number. List will be updated throughout the ACM's.

1. Sara Evans' red carpet gunny sack. Umm. Dress.

2. Carrie Underwood channeling Tina Turner.

3. Reba's opening monologue.

4. Taylor Swift's win. Shocking. Did it make you tear up or was it just me?

5. Garth coming up!

6. GO LADY A !! ! ! ! !! !

7. BIG night for Big Machine! I'm so excited for them. :-)

8. Hell. Miranda Lambert winning album of the year. WOW.

9. Notice how they're continually promoting Garth? He must be the top of the next hour.

10. Reba - B&D - ROCKIN!

11. Guitar thrown off stage - $1500
Tear away outfit: $350
700 gallons of water - $2200
Look on George Strait's face at the end of Taylor Swift's performance - PRICELESS

12. Not crazy about Garth's medley. Seriously, we know these songs. In their entirety. Not all chopped up.

13. Ok, I know in some galaxys I'd get shot for this, but I've never heard Garth and Trisha sound so horrible together.

14. Loved the Eddie Arnold tribute. Thought Carrie sounded SO much better when she uses that pretty voice of hers to sing, not scream.

3. Loved Reba's monologue. Even Laynie said "she's funny!"

Missed Sara's dress .

Don't care for Carrie >Yah I know I'm the only person on the planet that feels that way.

I liked Reba's monologue. She looks less "Joker-ish" this year.

I like Brad's new song. We need more guys that are still guys. Not shaved, and waxed and botoxed.

Big surprise that Taylor won......... NOT

Like Blake so much better with short hair. And I would have put money on Lady Antebullem(um?) winning.

And yes I did tear up when Taylor won

I liked Taylors new song.

UGH Rascal Flatts winning anything makes my teeth hurt.

Sigh...... Trace. This song really hits home with one graduating from high school this year and the hubby retiring from the Air Force next year.

Producer J. said...

I think we must be on tape delay in Nashville... you were talking about Trace and I was going "what the heck? Brooks & Dunn are still talking!"

He still wears them Wrangles well !!!!!!!!

Best part of Garth being on ...........watching my 12 yr old watch Garth. She's a big fan. Even my 17 yr old that really doesn't like country music was singing along word for word.......... she grew up with me blasting Garth LOL

GAG ME !!!!!!!!!!!

Loved Garth's shirt and I wish he would have just sung MTAM all the way through. I absolutely love that song.

Well....... Brad was better Kenny. LOL

Ok, where to start.

Loved Carrie's opening the show with "Last Name."

Reba was hilarious - the best was the one about Taylor and of course about Keith being "entertainer of the year" for Nicole - LMAO! The look on her face was priceless! And she finally has a baby bump!

Sound is off as always.

Now I love Sugarland, but their new song - not so much.

Taylor was too cute but yeah, big surprise there! LOL Loved her performance as well.

Garth's medley was good, but agreed about it being a bit choppy, And Trisha's dress? - Good lord I don't think I have ever seen her wear something so sexy. I won't tell you what they are saying on PG about it. Gees. And poor Garth, he called Reba Miss Yearwood!

Carrie and Brad singing Make the World Go Away for Eddy Arnold was fabulous - I am glad they acknowledged Eddy and payed that little tribute to him.

And there have been a few surprise winners. Namely Miranda for album - very cool!

Oh, Trisha just presented an award. She changed into another short sexy dress. I have to say she has been getting a bit more daring in her wardrobe lately hasn't she. I'm sure Garth loves it though. LOL!

That's all I've got for now. All in all very enjoyable show this year.

Gag me Again LOL

UGH BLECH GAG ME PHOOEY I wanted KU to win. Oh well maybe next year.

Garth's medley- good, though he's chunking again.

TY's outfit- wow..... (not in a bad or good way- it fit her good)

Taylor Swift's performance- AWESOME......

Miranda winning? hey, it's sorta Nashville star support in a long round about way (she did finish 3rd in the 1st season.)

Reba's comment about Paris hilton? priceless

So I was late to work so I could watch "the performance" on my DVR... wasn't any worse than the live show from KC, IMO. She looked spectacular, though. So, so glad she's gotten secure enough to dress like that! :) And didn't see Miranda's win, but good for her. She deserves it--kick butt album. Hope Blake was there for it! :P

Ok - I was watching my daughter win her 1st softball tournament of the year rather than this award show - BUT I'd love to see it - do you know if GAC will replay it in it's entirety?

Unknown said...

Sharon - GAC does usually reair the show in its entirity. Just not sure when. We'll have to keep an eye out for it in the coming months.

My husband rewound IAE 4 times, LOL! Trisha IS dressing a lot more sexily now; GB must make her feel really good about herself.

I thought Garth looked very fit. Loved the brain cramp when he called Reba Miss Yearwood!!!

Why can't they get the sound right at any of the awards shows??

Producer J. said...

My husband had the opposite reaction Barbara -- he asked if she was pregnant!!! LOL. I said if she was she wouldn't be wearing a dress slit down to her belly button. I think we've just been seeing too many Angelina Jolie long flowing high waisted dresses lately.

Is it it funny how an older woman wearing something that revealing everyone thinks is great that she is that "confident" or "sexy" but if Carrie Underwood or Kellie Pickler show up in something cut too low or hemmed too high we think they're a tramp. (I'm guilty of thinking Taylor needed to learn how to stand more ladylike in a dress.)

I don't think that high waistline (and probably the color) was particularly flattering, but I saw Trisha in person a couple of weeks ago and can testify that she looks GREAT in person.

i thought the show was rather rushed or something. They didn't even show the nominees on camera when they were giving an award. Sometimes they didn't even show the picture, just read the names. The sound was definitely off too. I wish reba would have gotten to perform her new single. Skip ewing was there, it could've happened. But, the label didn't want to tick Kenny off. *eye roll*

I think someone else should have gotten to preform a song instead of george and kenny each getting a song and then doing it together. There were a lot of stars that I knew where there, but never saw them, sad.

Also, Miranda's win suprised me. Has her cd even gone gold? I totally thought Taylor had that award in the bag.

Producer J. said...

Is anyone actually playing the Skip Ewing version?

Producer J. said...

By the way Kendel -- are you here over the summer?

Producer J. said...

Miranda has sold 408,232, so it's probably shipped Gold.

Rodney Atkins, on the other hand, has sold 1.3 million... Taylor 2.9 million...

Anonymous said...

I think the difference with Trisha's dress is that it's low cut but long, not low cut AND short.

The fact that I say she's "confident" is that in the past, she hasn't always been and while she hasn't dressed prudishly or like a librarian, she's never projected this kind of glowing, in love, this is who I am and what I look like, type of image. It's awesome. :)

About Miranda's album...I think it's great that it's not based on sales, but on what the best album is--songwise. And hers was on everyone's "list" last year. :)

Anonymous said...

That last post was mine.. sorry.

Anonymous said...

The sound is usually off on these award shows but I don't think it can all be blamed on the sound. Most of these artist don't sound nearly as good live as on the cds. Carrie needs to stick to singing instead of angry yelling. Yes, Taylor needs to throw those shoulders back. TY's blue dress was okay and I will say that she is always misleading on t.v. They say that the camera adds ten pounds but with her it adds 20-30. I have seen her at a meet n greet then the next day on t.v. and it is amazing the difference. Hey more power to the women that wear those kind of dresses.

Producer J. said...

I knew. Your  gave you away :-D

Anonymous said...

me- you hit it right on the nail head. She really IS coming into her own, and I think Garth (who seemed a bit lost prior to his retirement, like someone was constantly dragging him down)has regained a lot of his confidence from her.

At any rate I was happy to see them both, thought they both looked amazing, and in spite of the sound mix (I don't think Garth could hear himself) enjoyed the medley.

And gbsgirl4ever- you're not alone about Carrie!

Unknown said...

Add me to the group that don't particularly care for Carrie.

As for the show, I pretty much muted everything with the exception of a few performances (Brad, Kenny and George, Trace).

The only winner that really surprised me was Miranda winning album of the year.

I have actually heard the Skip Ewing version twice. Once on one of the nashville stations, I think either wkdf or wsix. And then again on my local podunk station here back home.

Sadly, I am not in nashville for the summer :( But back home in Chicago-Indiana.
