My husband, the rocker, who doesn't listen to country music with the exception of George Strait, bought himself a little ringtone package for his phone, which includes a bunch of Nickleback songs... with the exception of my ringtone.
When I call, it plays the Statler Brothers' "Do You Know You Are My Sunshine."
I have phone envy.
I am shopping for a new phone / pda. (Note to self... get one that will play real music when people call.) I'm very intrigued by this new Blackberry Storm that comes out on Friday.
Last night we tried to go phone shopping and I was overwhelmed by all the options. Slide out keyboards... touch screen or not... smartphones... mobile web...
Do you have a PDA that you love? I'm a Verizon customer... looking for something that will let me check email, open Word and Excel docs and take pictures. Suggestions?

I recently bought a new cell phone. It is nothing fancy, but it plays real music and that is what I wanted. When my husband calls me from his cell phone, I hear "Working for a Living" from Garth Brooks & Huey Lewis. :D Gives me a kick every time. (Takes me longer to answer the phone now ;-) )
Ooh, I'll be interested in comments and recommendations as well. My cell phone is up for replacement, although there's nothing wrong with it and has enough features for the amount of time I use it.
I don't think I've reached 100 minutes of usage in a month...ever, and don't text unless someone texts me and I have to figure out how to reply (takes too long)...you were my first text message at Fan Fair a couple of years ago, and it took me awhile to figure out how to respond. I don't want to pay a monthly fee for services I don't use.
I don't have special ringtones but would love to have them as long as I only had to download and pay once and not a monthly fee for the privilege (not even sure how that works anyway). I would like to access the web, etc., but not at a monthly or usage fee that is not worth it. I think my phone has that ability, but I've never used it.
I agree...the number of options out there is overwhelming.
iPhone! I really, really want one... But they are still so expensive here. And I don't know how things would end if I could be on internet with my cellphone. I'm to addicted already.
Your husband is sweet!!
A good place for info is over at http://www.howardforums.com/
Awww... :)
I upgraded a few months ago--to an LG Slide. It's alright, but I'm not sold on it. I wish I had just caved and gotten a blackberry.
I don't have a fancy phone with internet on it. It's just a simple samsung, and that's the brand I've had for years.
Most of my friends have Blackberries. They all love them. My dad has had Treos for a long time, however a few weeks ago his work gave him a Blackberry. He was skeptical at first, but now likes it.
Go for the new Blackberry, it looks neat.
Funny, I have "what phone should I get?" threads going with three completely separate groups of people right now!
I had BlackBerries for about three years, now I have had an iPhone since summer. If you want to stick with Verizon, an iPhone isn't an option, but I think it's still educational to compare and contrast, because there are things I really like about both. (Disclaimer: this is all my personal opinion, of course. Also, I haven't used the latest BlackBerries).
The BlackBerry is an email MACHINE. Emailing on the BlackBerry is much nicer than emailing on the iPhone. Part of that is because of the keyboard, so the new BB Storm might not be quite as good, but there are other things too and I assume those would carry over.
The iPhone has the benefit of tons of downloadable applications, if you care about that. There are a few I use regularly, and tons I tried once and never used again. Nice feature, but I don't give it top priority. The iPhone has a built-in iPod, so it's nicer for listening to music. I think the iPhone is nicer for use as a phone (making and receiving calls) than the BlackBerry. Web browsing is much better on the iPhone.
In my admittedly limited experience, I've found that people who have never used a smartphone find the iPhone easier to understand and use, but the BlackBerry is very efficient once you learn it (again, the touchscreen model may be different).
I personally would recommend a BlackBerry over any Windows Mobile device, unless there's some very specific thing you need that only the Windows device can provide. But that's just me...
Oh, also, the iPhone has TONS of games if that's something you're into. It doesn't do much for me (most of the apps I've tried once and never used again were games). In general, I've found most of the most popular iPhone applications to be things that look cool, have something that makes them novel, but aren't that useful in the long run. If there were a SiriusXM streaming app, THAT might be interesting ;-)
My only iPhone experience was sitting next to Lon Helton at the AJ CMT Giants taping. As the show was about to get started, he pulled out his iPhone and clicked on something, and the app that turns it into a concert lighter came on.
Very funny!
Keep the comments coming!

I *love* the air hockey ap. on my itouch! :) Oh, and the weather. :)
*cough* iphone *cough* :)
but yeah... what Sean said. :)
My plan is up in March and I'm switching to the above... after like 27 years with Sprint.... but I can't get reception in my new office, so who cares anyway, right?
I love Verizon, except when I'm home or in the city center, as I have trouble getting reception. I have a very old, solid home, and I'm just minutes from downtown, so if I'm out and about Verizon rocks, especialy when on holiday.
I've had several fellow agents go to blackberries; iphones don't work with our MLS. I just have a LG basic phone, and its always on vibrate. I hate annoying ringtones with a passion.
One thing about the various carriers' coverage: the only thing you can do is try it yourself and see what works for you. They all have coverage holes, and if the one you pick has a hole where you need coverage most, it won't work for you no matter how great everyone else thinks it is. Verizon is supposed to have the best coverage of any carrier, and yet last time I tried them (less than a year ago), they had horrible coverage at both my house and office. T-Mobile is actually great around here, even though they're bad in lots of other areas. But even in the same metro area, it depends on where you go. No one else's experience will tell you how well it'll work for you.
FWIW, over the years I've had T-Mobile, Nextel, Sprint (prior to the Nextel merger), old AT&T, new AT&T (Cingular) and Verizon. I liked T-Mobile the best for the combination of coverage and customer service (not awesome, but not as poor as the others in my experience). I was pretty hesitant to switch to AT&T, but I did to get an iPhone. I've mostly been pleasantly surprised. Their customer service people don't seem as helpful/nice on average, but the coverage has worked out ok for me in most places.
Okay, now I want an iphone just for the concert lighter ap.
Hmm, maybe I could sell a kidney or something. I hate being a poor college student. lol
