Running away to the ocean

Next month, my parents celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. They told us last year that they wanted to do a family vacation with all the kids and grandkids. In throwing out suggestions (mine being the ocean, somewhere warm, and somewhere Southwest flies) we wound up in Myrtle Beach, SC for all of next week.

I've never been to Myrtle Beach (probably because it doesn't have a major airport and it's 10 + hours away) so it should be quite the experience. 4 of the 13 of us are under the age of 4.

The Zoo there doesn't look very good, but there's a big one on Asheville, NC on the way there that has not one, but TWO kinds of wolves, and there's an aquarium in MB that I've got media passes into.

Other than that, it's going to be a lot of laying around and being lazy. I'm ready for that. We're leaving tonight after work and driving to Knoxville, will be at the ocean by Saturday night.

What are your Thanksgiving plans?

Have a wonderfully relaxing vacation and enjoy the time with your family. You deserve it!

I don't have big Thanksgiving plans. I'll be going to my sister's house (not the one you know) where she always fixes a huge dinner, with just about everything imaginable, that would feed an army. The following week, however, my sister (the one you do know), her grandson and I are going to meet my brother at the Mouse House.:-)

Oh I do so too know your other sister. She's the Statler Brothers fan!

So I know you'll have good music for Turkey Day. :-)

I was supposed to go to Myrtle Beach in September but Hannah and Gustav played havoc with those plans. I am going to my brother's house for the traditional Thanksgiving feast and then we are driving to Lafayette,LA and spending the weekend with the munchkins. The zoo there has a light display and they also have an Acadian village decorated for Christmas.
J.D. and I will be married forty years in January and we are going to spend Mardi Gras at a bed and breakfast on the parade route to celebrate.
Hope you have a safe trip and a wonderful time with your family.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but it happens that we have recently booked a weekend away for next weekend! I am looking forward to it. We will go for many walks with our 6 months old dog. I am hoping for snow, so that I can take some good pics.

I wish you a great week in Myrtle Beach and all of you Happy Thanksgiving!

I love Myrtle Beach. Have a great holiday with your family.

Hubby has to work Wed & Fri, so we're just going to hang out with each other on Thursday. The kids are making their own traditions now, so its a good time for us.

We're going to visit family in Oregon. Only leaving Wednesday, though. But I can't complain too much about that being a short vacation because we're going to Maui on December 8 ;-)

Barbara -- any recommendations for things to do, places to eat?

I hope you will have a great, relaxing time with your family :)Sounds very nice.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Norway. So it's just another ordinary week here.

I'm going to my original hometown and to my grandma's house in Cleveland.

Have a blast in SC! It'll be warm there. Unlike here. I am freezing today. I have about 10 layers on. I shouldn't complain though. My grandma is getting like a foot of snow right now.

J- Its been 6 years since I last went. We stayed in N Myrtle Beach, in a condo complex right on the beach. There was a really good streak house on the main drag, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the place. It was a mom & pop place, not chain. We tend to look for local car plates when deciding where to eat; if the locals eat there they're good enough to last off season.

Jim comes home tomorrow WOOHOO!!!!!! He's been gone since August 15th. Two of my kids have the whole stinking week off LOL The college student has classes and work. So we'll probably just hang out around the house.

Jim and I are going to a hotel downtown Friday- Sunday next weekend. It' sour 25th wedding anniversary !!!

Nope, not that one either. It's my third sister...she's a Kenny Rogers fan.

JoAnn, we're headed down on December 4 and coming back on December 11.

Lots of milestone anniversaries. Happy anniversary to your parents and to Maryann and J.D. and Pam and Jim.

Happy Turkey Day to all!
