Blame Leno?

Soundscan Numbers are out -- Top 200:

1. Jaz-Z / American Gangster 424,959
2. Eagles / Long Road Out of Eden 359,261
3. Garth Brooks / The Ultimate Hits 351,793

So Garth was #2 Country. The great irony here is that when The Lost Sessions came out, Walmart wouldn't release the actual numbers to Soundscan. They provided the numbers for the Eagles, and for the first time since -- forever? -- Garth didn't debut #1 Country.

I thought it was wierd that he didn't promote the CD during his concert... no pre-show commercials, or even album covers on the jumbotron. I never heard him mention it on stage any of the shows I saw. I talked to so many people just while waiting in lines, that had no idea he had a new album.

Okay... WTF is up with that?? WM should not release Eagles numbers if they wouldn't for Garth!! Grrr... But didn't they release them in the end, isn't that how all the albums were just recertified? I have no idea. :)

I heard Garth promote the pink cd once when I was there. The Komen people said this past Sunday that the night he did they had amazing sales, they ended up selling out of what they had brought and had to bring in more stock. But when he doesn't mention it from the stage, sales are just okay. :(

I don't think those are bad numbers. If it were all new music I'd be disappointed, but I think the numbers are quite respectable especially since the majority of us have most of the music several times over.

Reba only sold 302,000 in the first week. So if Garth had released UH on a different week, I'm sure he would've gotten #1s all around. I'm surprised though, I expected a much higher number.

Interesting...

Still pretty damn impressive for a "greatest hits' from a retired guy though.

Are the Komen sales included in these stats?

Irritating about WM though.

Thanks for the info!

I think these are great numbers for an artist who's been around for 18 years, and this being a greatest hits.

Can ya imagine, what he would of sold if he had of been on Leno!

The Eagles are higher then Garth - whats wrong with this picture? Nothing, except frigging Jay Z is above both of them!

Oh, and there wwere tonnes of ads on Food Network, HGTV, Fine Living and GAC (all owned by the same folks) for the past two weeks.

I didn't really think of it at the time but now that you mention it that is pretty strange that he didn't promote it at the shows. You'd think he would have done that as part of the intro of 'More Than A Memory.'

Thanks for the info J.

I was waiting to see some TV commericals or more ads for the CD and it has not happened now that is cancelled The view and Ellen I know why he is doing this but it won't be good for sales. I hope they do some type of ad compain for the holidays.

Is there a number on the pink CD's I hope they did really well with the speical edition.

Garth's #1 in Canada, followed by Josh Groban and then Jaz-z.:)
