All four Garth shows are now safely mixed into their logs and ready to go on the air. There are moments in these shows that definitely gave me "garthbumps." I hope you get them too.
One of my favorite things in ShortCuts is always when I write something in the script that tickles the artist in some way... makes them laugh or giggle, or makes them really think. There are some big ol' GB laughs in this show... when you hear them, know that they made me smile in the midst of all the chaos.
An hour and 18 minutes until ShortCuts airs... I shall await your comments.

J, You ROCK!!! I'm listening to MTAM right now, which I wouldn't have been able to do if you hadn't told me about aolradio. Hubby has been dispatched for pizza and know not to bug me except to refill my plate and wine glass, lol!!!
Okay I already love Shortcuts even though the whole world keeps interupting me while I'm listening to it!!! Good thing I can hear it again in the morning...
Garth Rocks, XM Rocks, J REALLY ROCKS!!!
So far nothing new.
I want to get to all the comments about the new stuff and can't wait
I want more.........
He started talking about the new stuff and the new song.
Have to re-live Tuesday
Keep it up
You're Awesome J!
I'm listening as I type. And this is great, I needed a Garth re-fresher before the concerts!!
I love what I have heard so far. I don't have the time to sit down and listen to it all. I have some packing to finish, but I take some breakes in front of the computer :)
Thanks Joyce.
Well done you on the 'snippets'
Are the other shows repeats or new Garth talks?
Nice show
Well thanks to the 5 of you who listened. LOL. A little anti-climatic for me.
Jona, there was a reference to you in there -- Hope you heard it!
This show repeats 3 more times - Tomorrow morning / Sunday Night / Monday morning.
There are 3 new shows rolling out Tuesday that essentially breaks the album into 3 parts.
There are some segments that were pulled out of ShortCuts, because these shows air on different channels, and in a different day part. Probably about 60% of the interview is stuff you haven't heard yet -- especially in the first 2 episodes. The music, of course, is all the same.
Some of the stuff you've got left to hear -- recording his first album, the numbers game, what he remembers about the retirement PC, playing Times Square, and his thoughts on Trisha's new album.
Our total interview time with him was 90 minutes, and we used about 50 of it in ShortCuts. And probably 88 minutes of it is gonna make it on the air before we're done.
What?? Please tell me what I missed??
That was a real treat. Thank you, J!
I am still sitting here in a Garth induced trance right now after hearing the clip of "Leave A Light On." It made me sob uncontrollably.
Well done, my friend.
Well rats! I had to work late and missed it *sob* :o(
By chance will they replay it on AOL? (my access to XM). I really hope so.
Thanks J :o)

As J said above
This show repeats 3 more times - Tomorrow morning / Sunday Night / Monday morning.
Which I think is
November 3rd 10am ET
November 4th 6pm ET
November 5th 10am ET
Give a thanks to your station and also a pat on your back J for all you do.
Jona , you have yourself a great time out there, and send our love from Europe to Garth and Trisha.
Take care

Yes, those times are right.
Jona... at one point Jon tells Garth that we've heard from Garth fans all over the world coming in from the concert -- including Norway, Australia, and New Zealand. My little high five to you, Rachel, and Debbie. :-) I'm annoyed at having to travel a couple hours to go see him, I can't imagine what y'all are going through!
That part came in the 2nd big talk segment I think, probably 20 minutes or so into the show.
I heard most of the show and was dancing around my house and singing and getting ready for KC it was like a Garth concert that was until Christian got home and made me turn it down.. uhhh no fun. I will have to catch the rest later. Awesome Job Joyce
Jona, J is spot on about around 20 minutes as it was straight after The Dance talk.
The greatest thing for fans is not how far they travel, but being a part of something and sharing those memories, knowing they will be shared just as equal with fans from around the world.
Just wanted to wish everyone a great time and don;t forget about the one's who couldn't make it.
Take care
UK
Don't worry J...I'm sure lots more heard it. :) And I will, soon! I just booked my flight badly, and then missed it...but nothing will tear me away tomorrow. :) Can't wait!!
I did listen to almost the whole thing(kinda had to do stuff during some of the songs). Anyway, it was a very very cool thing. IT is nice not to see the same old questions asked of him.
I'm trying to figure out where we will actually see this We Shall Be Free vid? He said promotional use only, well promotional for what? Will we ever see it in its entirity? Doesn't make sense for him not to put it on the disk, because that only leaves the fans with shady ways of getting ahold of the video.
I so want to hear leave a light on in its entirity! ITs my love letter and I don't even get to read it?! :) Well at least not for a few days...
From what I heard of Workin For a Livin I still need convincing on this song...
Midnight Sun I'm undecided on, but I'm not much of traditional country person, has to be the right song...
Also, just want to say going through Garth chronologically was very cool. It was an awesome trip down memory lane, and a great retrospective of how far the music and the man have come.
Thank you a million times over for this special. Has to be the best Garth piece I've heard in quite some time. I guess this is the difference in people that know and love Garth interviewing him and the regular old anchors/hosts. You not only informed, but you care about Garth and the music...
If I wore a hat, it would be off to you Joyce! Thank you for 3 beautiful hours to keep us going til next week!
(Which hopefully will include Leno. Cross fingers and toes and maybe just maybe)
That's very cool, J. :) I will listen to one of the repeats! It is far, but it is cool to travel to the US too. I'm sure it will all be worth it.
That was so enjoyable J!!Great job!
I'd love to see him perform with Steve Wariner...he didn't necessarily deny those rumours...I think his words were, "it's all about availability" right? Here's to hoping Steve's only available for the Saturday night show...LOL!
Had to chuckle about his answer to the superstitious question about the 13th.:) Loved the Garthnutts reference too.
I think of the 3 new songs I'm gonna love Midnight Sun...it's just something about that traditional sounding Garth that I've always loved. Working for a Living, will definitely have to grow on me.
Again, Great show J, glad I was able to listen in.
If I heard right... I think I heard Sandi's name at the end of the show?

Sandi's name was mentioned but I don't know second names.

Listening to it now!
So of course I got 5 calls and two people ringing my doorbell so I missed about an hour.
And the feed today is crap :(
One Garthbump: hearing him talk about bringing out Vicky Shaw at Central Park, to hear the crowd sing The River. Wow. :)
Didn't Phil Vassar already do a country version of 'Working For A Living' with Huey Lewis?
I listened this AM!! Great show!! Loved every second of it!!
J (to be redundant) You Rock!!!
Sorry for the length of this, but here goes. Hope it doesn't blow up blogger.
3 hours! What an awesome show. You guys did a great job and just hearing a bit of the three new songs was okay with me. I think the way you handled it worked very well. And I understand where Garth was coming from when he decided not to allow the full songs to be heard until the CD came out. I’m sure Tuesday’s show is going to be awesome as well, but since I’ll be winging my way to KC, I won’t get to hear it. I’ll have to wait until Thanksgiving weekend to hear it all over again, including more of the conversation that took place while the show was being taped.
I haven’t read everyone’s comments yet because I wanted to formulate my own before posting and then reading everyone else’s. I didn’t get to hear the show until this morning since I was out last night. Called my sister a little before 10 to catch up but told her I had to get off the phone when the show came on. We were in the middle of a sentence when I told her I had to go and then hung up…she understood.
I wanted to take as many notes as I could furiously write because my memory is so bad. While the songs were playing, I would go off and try to get something done while I listened to the music, then would go back as the song was ending to take notes on the next portion of the interview. There were a couple of times when I almost didn’t make it back and at one point ran out of my slippers.
There are a few blanks in my notes that I hope to fill in the next time I listen to the show over Thanksgiving weekend. I don’t know if I missed writing down a song or not, but going back over my notes, I could only count 33 and also realized that It Was Your Song didn’t make it on the compilation.
I love this type of show where the artist talks about the songs and how they came about and shares other things about the process. With Garth, there were some things, of course, that we’ve heard before, but there were also some new things he shared that I don’t remember hearing about before.
I also liked the other things he threw in there like the hugs (or waves if there are others around) he’s greeted with by the girls when he returns from whatever obligations he’s taking care of. Also, when Jon (again via you, I’m sure) asked what he does all day and he says drinks, but in between the loads of laundry and the dishes, he’s working on screenplays, although he hasn’t earned the right to get anything green lit, which allows him to get the creative juices out. I also noticed at one point in the beginning of the show where he referred to Trisha as Trisha, not Miss Yearwood. Also, again showing class, he mentions Sandy as being a great help and how the family pulls together.
Loved Garth’s comment to Jon asking him to tell you thanks for him. Congrats Sandi on being listed in the credits at the end and thanks for helping Joyce out with the show. I thought it was cool when Jon mentioned fans from all over the world – Norway, Australia and New Zealand - flying in for the shows and know that was you most likely referring to Jona, Rachael and Debbie, among others. Also loved his reaction when Jon (via you, I assume) talked about the fans and said that Garthnutts are a breed all their own, and Garth laughed.
On The Thunder Rolls, it sounded like more thunder at the end than I remember…or maybe it was the storm that’s raging outside now. I didn’t realize that was his first cut as a songwriter. I did know it was on Tanya Tucker’s album but didn’t know the third verse was scrapped from the project she was working on. The Fever seemed to cut out quickly at the end of the song…sounded like something was cut out. And did he say what I think he said…that he loved the ***** in it?
When he talked about We Shall Be Free and the new 15-year anniversary video done with the new celebrities and said that it was not included in the package, I didn’t hear him say anything about where or when this video will be seen. Can you shed any light on that? Can’t wait to see the original video done for In Another’s Eyes after hearing him talk about it.
I can’t wait to get the limited edition and hear the coded messages at the end that Garth hinted at. My sister has been entrusted with picking up my copy of the limited edition on Tuesday since I most likely won’t get a chance to stop at a store between landing in KC and getting to the show.
Can’t wait to see the shows and see what other surprises he has in store for us. I just hope that I don’t miss anything special or any surprise guests in the four shows that I’m not getting to see either in person or in the theater.
How many times did I say “can’t wait?”
Paula
Thanks guys! I tell ya, it's a whole different kind of pressure when you feel like you personally know a couple hundred people who will be listening.
I know the "We Shall Be Free" thing is confusing. We actually had to recut that part of the show, because Jon went through the whole segment into about and then said something about 3 discs, 33 videos, the one thing we couldn't do was show the videos, blah blah blah, and then asked about the new version of WSBF.
Garth stopped the show and then told us that it WOULDN'T be on the dvd. He gave us the explanation off the record, and asked that we start that segment again. I hope at some point he'll explain on the record.
As for where it will show up, I would guess -- and this is pure speculation, he didn't say this - but I would hope it would show up in some of this massive GAC programming they have coming up on him.
By the way, the show, as Paula noted, is all scripted out in advance, and Jon pre-reads it right before the interview. But I have to give him props -- that line about putting the zip line in theatres was totally an adlib. And it totally tickled Garth, as you heard. :-)
I'm totally laughing at Katie and her comment about not getting to read her love letter. You do get to read it -- you just have to buy it first! LOL
(see what great progress I've made - I can chuckle about it now.)
J- if I haven't expressed it enough, can I just say it: YOU ROCK!!!!!!!
I so hope to meet you in the future!
Well I'll buy 3 copies just to make sure I get to read(hear) it! Not long at all now!
What a fantastic show! Thanks so much for letting us know all about it--it's so great to hear Garth talk about all of this and get everyone even more excited about the new project.
I'm in KC now!!! Awesome city, awesome hotel. And the Srint center looks great too!! Can't wait until the show tomorrow...
Jona!! Where are you staying? We have to meet.
Jona
Great to hear from you.
No hiding in Garth's back room, lol
J
Thanks again to you and XM for the show.
It was great to listen too and you know what, I couldn't care less about how long the show was as it was simply great.
I love the shows where the artist talks and then the song is played.
It simply wouldn't have worked if you done just snippets of songs.
Great job
UK
I would love to meet you, Joyce. I'm staying at the Hilton President :)
Oh yay! Me too.
