Garth #1 Again

This week's Soundscan just released --

Country Soundscan has Garth #1 (191,648 - puts him #4 on the Top 200), Eagles #2, Carrie Underwood #3, Keith Urban's Greatest Hits (first week out) at #4.

Trisha is #17 Country, with 15, 645 sold this week.

Larry the Cable Guy is selling better than she is.

Still baffled.

The fact that Larry the Cable Guy sells anything at all is baffling.

Do they count the sales on ITunes and such??

Well, they certainly don't for Garth! lol

Congrats to Garth!

But ya think people are choosing to buy between Garth & Trisha, & are choosing to buy Garth. With it being so close to Chistmas, & money being tight?

And Larry, he's ok, but selling more than Trisha, really, I don't get it.

Soundscan counts all MAJOR brick & mortar stores as well as online stores, including digital downloads (of the entire album.)

What it does NOT count is record clubs. (Does anyone REALLY use those? I mean really.)

What I've never seen clarified is whether the Pink edition of Garth's CD has been counted.

Also interestingly... I found an article about the Eagles Wal-Mart exclusive album being not-so-exclusive after all. Apparently the major chains were buying them at WM and reselling them higher in their stores. Supposedly they "weeded out" those 2nd sales counts (for example, Virgin in NYC, didn't report those sales to Soundscan, because WM had already been credited with the sale.)

I see what you're saying Marissa, but honestly... I don't think the Garth & Trisha thing should be stopping people from buying both. If anything, I've always thought she's been on the beneficial end of being associated with him. Lots of his fans have become her fans because they want to love everything he loves.

On the flip side though - this is the first album she's put out as his wife. Interesting.

Well I can tell you here in Columbus a lot of stores have NO copies out at all. I was in a Target in Hilliard and they didn't seem to know she even had a new cd out. I live in an area of the city where country sells well, and had went to Target, Best Buy, Circuit City and FINALLY Wally World (which I detest) to get it on the day of release. And I'm seeing alot of advert for the cd so BMR is doing their part. The area of town I live in would be the 11th largest city in Ohio if is was on its own, so that's really disgraceful.

Oh, and they were playing Larry the Cable Guy at Wally World....please when will his '15' be up???

Actually I wanted to ask about the Pink on instead of ITunes!!! LOL

I agree with Joyce about buying both CD's.

I just love Sing You Back To Me!!!

Blogger REALLY hates me. I apologize for the novela...

Finally having time to comment on all this - I apologize if I'm repeating.

First off - this album is INCREDIBLE! One of the best albums I've EVER heard, to be honest and I'm pretty sure I consider it Mrs. Brooks' best.

I have the same problem with Target -there were NO copies at the one in Danvers, MA. But next door at the Best Buy there were several and it was in the Employee's picks section. There were a bunch at WM the day it came out (I had to go and get the special version - ugh). So I'm not sure what's up with the Target thing. They had 3 copies of the Cowboy's UH the day it came out and that was it. Is Target pissed at him?

I also have a question about that certain website that kept pleading us to participate in all the pre-sales. If everyone was doing the pre-sales, were those counted? And the ones that were pre-sold in KC also. Every one sold in KC was autographed as were every 10th on that certain website. I have no idea how many were sold, but I think it must have been a few with the offer of the autograph.

I'm baffled myself... she's been promoting the hell out of it and it's briliant. I'd say wait til the Grammy's come out but that's too far away. I just do not get it. At all.

Somewhat related topic - do we know how the Pink version of UH has sold? Are those counted?

And I agree - this blog ROCKS!!!! Thanks J.

I'm done rambling... back to Christmas Carol rehearsal. Merry something... and all that crap.
