Just got a news mail from gb.com that they will stream live before the first show on Friday too. "GarthBrooks.com to Air Exclusive Pre-Show Webcast from STAPLES Center, Friday, January 25
Program will be hosted by music industry veteran Rick Barker and will air live from just inside of the Figueroa Street Entry starting at 4:30 PM Pacific. The show will feature fan interviews, giveaways and the opportunity to contribute to the “Southern California 2008 Fire Intervention Relief Effort (F.I.R.E.).""
GB won't see his girls for 4 days- the NHL Children's Charity is over the weekend and he's flying to Atlanta after the last show!
The sponsors are picking up all the costs, even CBS- Garth was going to eat the production costs and CBS is paying them, which I thought was cool. They'll disperse the grants pretty much the way T4K does their grants.
The head of the Staples centre is planing on having 44 doors open to get people out in 15-20 minutes and then get people back in just a quickly.
LOL, Garth asked the LAFD chief, 'now I don't have to show up, do I?' Very cute. They gave him a ball cap and he put his hat on one of the firefighters.
Oh- for all of you going the merchandise monies are being donated as well, so buy lots of stuff!
I can't figure out how the heck they've certified The Ultimate Hits at 5x Platinum. It's scanned about 1 1/2 million... 2 music CD's each package... still puts it at 3 million SOLD, surely there wouldn't be 2 million more shipped. I wonder if the Pink edition doesn't count for Soundscan?
Thanks for the scoop!!!! Paula and I are in LAX waiting for my luggage to arrive on the next flight - GOOD TIMES! So we'll go stalk, I mean scope... out the Staples Center as soon as we can make it downtown.... sometime today, I'm hoping.

I read they were counting the pink edition. The gentleman emceeing stated it had shipped 2.5 million, thus the 5 million cert by Riaa.
I forgot to mention the PC started about 12 minutes late as Garth was finishing his last interview. Apparently he drove his kids to school and then got on a plane, did a BUNCH of tradio station call-in all over Cali and he's going to be on Extra tonight. He was coughing a lot and clearing his throat a lot during the PC. I doubt he'll have anything left of a voice by the final show.
He had a big T4K event Wednesday in Nashville, J. He mentioned it on Froggy 105, saying he had gotten back to Tulsa at 3:00am Thurday and still hadn't slept due to all the call ins.
The man is definately working to get people to respond.
Okay Paula & I checked out the Staples Center - huge place but I don't know where they are putting all of those people waiting to get in or buying merch! We shall see. It's cold cold COLD in Cali... what the heck? But all is well and I now have luggage.
We passed a random manhole cover in the road that said "Brooks" and the building across the street from the Staples Center has a large "777" on it. Figures...
Safe travels all who are on the way - and bring an umbrella!!!
