"Major" Announcement

The fine folks at Sony BMG have warned us to mark our calendars for Thursday... to be watching when Kenny Chesney makes a big announcement. Which to me is just an open door to inviting the rumor mill to crank up. So... let's crank.

What on earth could the reigning ACM and CMA Entertainer of the Year be announcing?

I could say soemthing but I doubt he'd ever admit THAT. LOL

Maybe he got a movie role?

I mean announcing a concert tour would be kind of like George Bush sticking his foot in his mouth. ROOFL

I really hope that the major announcement isn't this year's tour. Come on.

I'm thinking it's going to be he's getting married. ;-)

Maybe an international tour? Well I don't know about that, he has a hard time even crossing the border.

I would put money on it being tour related.

I was going to be a smart ass and suggest that he was finally approved a passport and was going to tour outside the US but decided against it. Thank you Susan for going there. ;-)

My prediction is he's doing a festival tour - a la George Strait's back in 2000+ where he'd go into a stadium all day and bring a bunch of acts with him.

Well, I think Pam, Dave and I may be on the same page. :p

I guess it would be too much to hope that it may be an announcement that he is going to retire, but your prediction sounds like the winner.

He looks more and more like a turtle every day.

Maybe he'll announce that he's retiring to become a turtle then. Or go live with the turtles. Or give exclusive concerts to the turtle community.

Oh, one can hope...

Here at our house he's known as turtle Man because he looks like Franklin the Turtle. My bowling team agreed to that too ROFL

Y'all need to go pick on someone your own size!!!! :-P

Kenny is doing some pretty amazing things for the format -- and doing them while wearing a cowboy hat and boots.

Like it or not, he is the People's Choice for favorite male performer - ALL genres!

Because he's not country!!! :P

His show is Buffet with maybe a little Garth thrown in. :D And we're talking the KISS Garth, not the country Garth.

Producer J. said...

Not country? You think Brett Michaels or Sammy Hagar would sing "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy"??

I think he's very country... and hasn't tried to be a pop artist or cross things over to the AC charts, which a whole lot of other artists in this format can't say. So he puts on a rock show. He's hardly the first. ;-)

Yeah... he looks like a turtle. He can't help that.

I think, like KISS removing their makeup, Kenny will FINALLY take off that hat.

And like Bush admitting he screwed up in Iraq, Chesney will admit he's bald.

Come on, you know Turtle Boy is Island Country. That should be a whole other format. :P

Producer J. said...

Frank... have you seen the video for "You Save Me" ??

The world is much better off NOT seeing him without the hat. :-)

Besides, he's a local boy for you, right? You probably know someone who knew someone who knew his babysitter or something.

I have to agree with Dave on this. I think this blog entry wins the prize as the shortest entry eliciting the most response!

Just saw the announcement in today's (Thursday) USA Today: it's a six-city Stadium tour with Sara Evans, Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland, and Pat Green.

I really, really, really cannot stand that video. :o

And T H U D to the announcement.

That would be worth buying a ticket too (except for the Kenny part LOL)but alas the ter isn't coming anywhere near the Mason Dixon line.

Actually, one of Kenny's cousins listens to me in the morning so I'm careful of what I say on-air about him. I supported Kenny's music early on ('93-'94) when the big stations ignored him.

I can appreciate what he's accomplished but I also feel a lot of his songs fall into three categories: lost youth, salvation and the Carribean and they've started sounding the same to me.

Whatever sells?

I think you are all pretty sad, if ya all don't like the man why even waste your time on him. I happen to think he's pretty damn hot with the hat off, but I guess to each their own. As far as the turtle comments, thats one fine looking turtle if ya ask me!!!!

Who's the newbie, J? :)

Welcome Lisa! Pay no attention to the Turtle Haters... fans of all artists are welcome here. Where in the XM Nation are you?

Hi everyone! Thank you for the warm welcome cause I'm really cold right now. I'm in Minnesota but born and raised in Iowa, and dang proud of it, lol.
